Not into Polish. I know they have that freaky special consonant "l". I was once introduced to a polish girl, her name started with that "l" and sounded like "wootzia" (i think it was the polish equivalent of "Lucy"). I didn't get to pronounce it. (The name of her boyfriend was easier: Marek smile.gif )

I think Spies_Fan tried to learn the Polish language during his visit to Poland last summer.

I'm not sure if he succeeded, but I know he tried. laugh.gif

I'd consider myself a decent speaker, since I actually grew up speaking Polish blush.gif . Last summer I improved my speaking skills tongue.gif . I have some problems with the language, such as with the letters with the "tail" on them (there used to make different sounds). For me, I wouldn't say its hard to learn, but I did grow up with it... I guess it's like poker, easy to learn - difficult to master!

(geego, the names actually Lucia, not Lucy)

Polish is flexy language - we have declinations and coniungations. It mean that in Polish every verb(czasownik), every "name"(rzeczownik) and every adjectiv(przymiotnik) have other form in other sytyuations. The biggest diffrend beetwen polish and english speaking is this, taht in polish you read everything that, how it spell(every letter have only one soudn interpretation)

Łucia

L with 'tail'

I added file with correct pronancuation... It sounds 'plastic'. We don't see it that in noram language, it's difficoult to say it natural without whole sentenc.

I think it'd be interesting to try and learn it, I don't think I could, but I could try. ^.^;

I have a friend that's polish actually. She doesn't know much Polish though. I think the only word I know, and I don't even think it's right, is Jencuya (I can't spell it, I just know it was pronounced like that)...which means Thank you?

I don't think it was Łucia, it was propably Łucja or something like that. I can't tell how polish is hard for foreign people here, but it's propably harder because it's based on Slavonic launguage group not latin.

I'm somewhat of a linguist. I know Dutch, English, French, German, Latin and ancient Greek. I think I can learn Polish too, a girl from my class is from Poland and it doesn't sound that hard.

You're right, in Polish it would have the tail, but I was just giving the name in its correct English translation biggrin.gif

hm... I think baranina isn't very useful word. Better lern dzień dobry - good morning(good afternoon too) and dobry wiecz?r (good evening)

you can alsow use dzień dobry like good evening, it isn't mistake...
