Since everyone is in school, i decided to make a topic about it because im curius what the rest of you guys are learning about in school.

This is what i'm learning in Electronics class.

We spent an entire lecture going over this scematic XD.

In lab, we took apart a DC alternater, did some tests, and put it back together and saw if it ran or not. Mine and my partners ran perfectly. Our instucture also said that we may have improved it from what it was before. XD

Edit: sorry about the second pic that wasn't the right one. I took that picture cause i wanted to show my friends that someone put that on my campus as a joke (I think shifty.gif) XD the first one is the right photo.

I saw the first image from far away and thought it looked like a WOOHP weapon plan at first. tongue.gif No such coolness for me, though (yet) -- I'm just doing a bunch of general freshman science courses since I couldn't/didn't want to take AP science in high school. (I did have the opportunity to do AP Chem/Bio, but I would most likely have failed those courses miserably, and I wasn't advanced enough in math to take Physics at that point.)

Anyway -- calculus (multivariable), physics, chemistry, linear algebra, economics... that's pretty much my 1st semester schedule. At least I don't ever have to deal with biology again -- yay!

@ Ocik: So you're a hacker? I don't think I could ever understand C++, though I understand it's a high-level language -- but perhaps that's the point since the learning curve is so steep. tongue.gif I've been trying to teach myself Java so that I know at least how basic coding works.

Well, I haven't gotten very far at all. Just covered REALLY basic stuff like "if/else", printing to the console, learning what a string is... everyone has to start from somewhere...

I live with a friend who's a software engineering major. I've seen the stuff she does -- I can't even pretend I understand any of it!

There inst much to learn after if/else/print/string anyway, well besides pointers, structures, constructors, classes, different types of variables ofc.

What university are u on again? Harward? Damn, must be awesome to be surrounded with pros from all fields. I bet if you showed me her codes, i wouldnt understand it too :/

Nah, sadly. I'm currently at McGill, which is a university in Canada. Harvard would have been nice, but the catch was that my family would have had to spend $50K a year on tuition for me to have any decent chance at getting in. It's actually really frustrating how so many things in the world ultimately boil down to money...

Yeah 50k is way too much :/ I heard Harward and other top universities offer good scholarships for very poor students - you can always pretend to be Ambula, young girl from Somalia.

Haha, well, the catch is that you have to be poor enough to really have any chance at those financial-need scholarships. Seeing as my family's neither filthy rich (to the point where $50K/year wouldn't have been a problem) nor dirt poor (to the point of that girl you were talking about), we were stuck in an awkward position. tongue.gif

I think the reason no one has really been posting here in a while is because of those same tests. tongue.gif I started off this month with an econ midterm (got an A-) and then a chemistry midterm (grades for that one haven't been posted yet). Later this afternoon I have a linear algebra midterm which I am totally dead for. :( Then next week is a calculus midterm, and then the week after that is the physics midterm... yeah, totally not fun times lol

EDIT: And just as I posted that, my chemistry midterm grade was also posted. I got a B (which is surprising, because I thought the test was really easy). Chemistry was one of my worst subjects in high school... guess some things just don't change. tongue.gif Guess I'll have to up the ante on studying for the next midterm.
